Shen Valley Tech is a web design and development company, located at the northern end of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, where I have been designing web pages and sites since 2003. All web design is done using Web Standards and with usability and accessibility in mind. This means that Shen Valley Tech strives to provide web sites and pages which can be viewed in multiple browsers across different platforms with a similar experience. Designed in this manner the websites will continue to work in future browsers.
When a project begins, the first thing I do is sit down with the customer and discuss their needs and listen to their ideas. What follows is a joint process during which a web presence evolves through the incorporation of customer ideas and the judicious application of web standards based design principles. The customer receives a web site designed with forward compatibility as a goal, meaning that new browser versions won’t break your site.
Web development is done using XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets(CSS) and Javascript, separating the code from the presentation, which reduces each web page to smaller and easily maintained sizes. Font, layout and color changes can be made quickly using a CSS style sheet. In addition, development may be done utilizing the PHP scripting language combined with MySQL database for web sites requiring a database.
